My Hiatus Whereabouts + Life Updates
Egypt + Katb Kitab
On May 13th, I took off on a 10 hour plane ride to Ciaro, Egypt. From there, we travelled two more hours to Alexandria where my (now) husband’s family and friends live and where he grew up. There, we spent two whole weeks filled with reunions and festivities. On May 21st, we had our Katb Kitab, or marriage ceremony, in the North Coast region of Alexandria with close friends and family. On our last day, before returning back to the States, we toured Cairo and Giza. There is nothing more magnificent, that I’ve ever laid eyes on, than the Pyramids of Giza.
After returning home, the wheels kept on moving. Omar and I began packing up my house in Montgomery County, PA and moving my things to our place in Center City, Philadelphia. I mentioned in some of my earlier posts that this change was coming and I was so excited for it to finally be here. Even though I’m so heartbroken to leave my house behind. In a year or two’s time, God willing, we’ll have a new home somewhere closer to the heart of Philadelphia to grow our family in, but for now, we’re right in the middle. My daily commute has views of City Hall, The Comcast towers, Liberty One, Liberty Two, 30th Street Station, The Art Museum, and Boat House Row. Not too shabby.
Getting (Finally) Married!
On June 30th, the hottest day of the summer to date, we met with 20 close family and friends in front of the LOVE statue in LOVE Park, Philadelphia to say our “I Dos” under the blazing sun. It was the best day to date in my book and mother nature made it even more memorable. With an extra ring on our fingers, we had a beautiful luncheon at Harper’s Garden on 18th and Ludlow, where the staff made everything perfect, from the buffet to the cake cutting. That night, we slept extra tight knowing our knot was tied and we were done all of our extensive planning.
Now a days…
We’re relaxing in our new life, exploring restaurants, and making time to see family and friends. Bailey is making many dog-friends around town and celebrated her 4th birthday with her best friend Maui and an oversized dog treat. My baby niece, Hayden, is turning 4 in early august and I’ll need a uHaul to carry all the gifts I bought her to the party.
Overall, we’re adjusting back to normalcy and dealing with the pandemic still, just like everyone else. I know many of those who follow me here are also having life changing events and I’ve been over the moon for those on these journeys with me from buying houses, to getting married and having weddings, and to finding out your families are growing! I wish you all the best!
