My Brand of The Year: Ouai
As we wrap up 2020 (thank God), I’d like to call out one thing that I discovered that ultimately did not suck: Ouai haircare.
This brand was developed by Jen Atkin and really impressed me with it’s quality and performance. Before my haircut, I was hesitant to spend more than $20 on a shampoo or conditioner because my hair sucked up so much, and only ever styled the same way no matter what. Now that I have a quarter of the hair I used to, I was ready to invest in my hair.
Ouai shampoo and conditioner each run about $28. They have customized lines for fine, medium, and coarse hair. While I’m catagorized as “normal hair,” I chose to go with the fine hair option, since it claimed to be a lighter formula and I thought would provide better volume for me. Turned out to be true for me. I fell in love with this shampoo. My hair is always soft and hydrated and really easily workable into different styles! Not to mention the fragrance is unbelievable.

Ouai also makes a lovely dry shampoo. A friend recommended this to me and I was immediately impressed. My favorite feature is how fine the product is. It’s not a thick textured dry shampoo. It sits on the hair clean and nicely without leaving any gross residue. Not to mention, again, it smells amazing and the fragrance certainly trials around with you.
This ultra lightweight hair oil is perfect for tamin frizz, smoothing down flyaways, and adding shine to dullness. It can be used on wet or dry hair and rarely ever feels too heavy. I prefer to use this oil before I blowdry, or to add shine to my ends on day 3 dirty hair after dry shampooing.
